Your temporomandibular joints, or TMJ, are the joints that connect your jaw to your skull. When these joints are overused or damaged, they may develop a temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMD. TMDs can cause jaw discomfort, frequent headaches, face swelling, alignment problems, muscle spasms and other issues. Patients with TMDs feel discomfort when they chew and move their jaw, and frequent headaches can keep them from enjoying regular day to day activities.
At Cochran Family Dental, we work to educate our patients about TMDs. We strive to prevent TMJ problems from developing, and check each patient’s temporomandibular joints during their regular appointments to make sure they are healthy and strong. Dr. Cochran cares about his patients and wants to make sure that they always feel comfortable when they are biting or speaking. At our practice, we offer meaningful treatment for our patients who are suffering from temporomandibular disorders.
